Title: 7 Days OF DESIGN

“When people choose a career, there are several factors to consider; educational experiences to which one has been exposed to and the financial support available to one for pursuing unique training options.” (Johnson and Mortimer, 40)

By visualizing the professional environment and activities associated with the field of graphic design, students can make more informed choices about their preference for their career. This visualization is an application that showcases the basic formal elements that designers use. Using information collected in interviews from professionals, surveys and the process of design thinking, I created an interactive floor plan that walks the user through different rooms of multiple graphic design working environments. This design is a visual prototype that could be applied to other fields of study in the arts. By viewing different floor plans, the audience experiences the fundamental aspects of working in a graphic design agency. Also, the owning and operating of one’s own design studio can allow someone to get a good sense of the day-to-day practice as a professional graphic designer.

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign

*Special thanks to Amy Smith, LPK and employees, Teela Cunningham and Iconologic, Kevin Morgan, and all the people who graciously answered my digital survey.
